Executive Artistic Director
Elisa-Marie Alaio is a native of Brooklyn, NY and a graduate of Point Park University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in dance with a primary focus in modern/jazz. During her time at Point Park she performed works by Garfield Lemonius, Keisha Lalama, and was a featured soloist for a work created by Rennie Harris and performed at the Byham Theater. Since graduation in 2013, Elisa has had the opportunity to perform with several professional dance companies around the country including Red City Live Entertainment, Continuum Dance Theater, Texture Contemporary Ballet, and Geometry Dance Company. Eventually these experiences inspired her to begin her own company in 2015, fireWALL Dance Theater.
Over the last 5 years, Elisa has cultivated and created 8 full length shows, all performed at their resident theater, Carnegie Stage. The company has also featured works at The New Hazlett Theater, Kelly Strayhorn, the Rex Theater and Carnegie Museum of Natural History. FireWALL has toured their shows to NYC several times, performing at Triskelion Arts, Royal Family and Shetler Studios & Theatres. Elisa had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with international performer/director and movement expert, Carlotta Storelli, in a 70 minute two woman show. In addition, Elisa has choreographed works for the Harlem Globetrotters’ halftime show, RAW Artists Los Angeles & Pittsburgh, Texture Contemporary Ballet’s annual “WIP” & “Dance Shorts” showcases, The Carnegie Museum's “Third Thursday,” and a music video for performing artist Mason Ashley. She has worked with Burning Lake Productions based in Wheeling, WV, where she was a featured actress in a short film entitled, “Red Jacket.”
Elisa is an active instructor, mentor, and leader around the Pittsburgh area. She has choreographed and taught at several local dance studios such as Wexford Dance Academy, Evolve Dance Complex, Texture Ballet School, Elite Dance by Damian, Reach For the Stars Dance, Scriva’s Dance Studio, and was a lead instructor/choreographer at Millennium Dance Complex. In 2017 she began a pre-professional summer intensive, fireWALL Junior, a program designed for young dancers eager to improve technique, movement quality, sportsmanship, and artistry.
Along with adoring the young generation of dancers, Elisa works closely with women who are eager to explore their sensual and sexy sides while finding the confidence to own it, unapologetically. She opens up a judgement free space for women to gain the tools needed to explore who they truly are without any hesitations.
fireWALL dance theater is a place that welcomes ALL aspiring dancers and artists, no matter your age or abilities. We are opening our doors to the Pittsburgh community in hopes you find a home at our studio. Our mission is to provide a safe environment where everyone feels welcomed, excited, nurtured, challenged and accepted!
