Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a safe environment where everyone feels welcomed, excited, nurtured, challenged and accepted.

History

fireWALL Dance Theater was established in 2013 as a theatrical, contemporary dance company under the artistic direction of Elisa-Marie Alaio. The company was discovered by Hans Gruenert and Virginia Wall Gruenert, owners of Carnegie Stage and off the WALL Productions, which inspired the name fireWALL Dance Theater. Over the years, Elisa has curated 8 full-length productions, which have been recognized for breaking barriers and confronting social challenges.  These productions have been seen on several stages along the east coast, including their home theater of Carnegie Stage in Pittsburgh, PA. Elisa organized 3 seasons of fireWALL Junior, a summer intensive designed to build strong, technical dancers that are seeking a professional career. Along with empowering our younger generation, we are passionate about giving back to our community and using our artistry to raise money for organizations we believe in. We have joined forces with The Emily Program, a national leader in eating disorder awareness. As well as, POWER, an organization thats guided to help women reclaim their lives from addiction and emotional struggles. It has been a rewarding journey that we are excited to see where it will take us.
